DURHAM, N.C. – Today, World Relief Durham celebrates the anniversary of the opening of its Immigration Legal Services (ILS) Center to provide low-cost immigration consultations to immigrants and refugees in the Durham community. Parking is available on Gilbert Street. Every second of every day children are orphaned by disease, women are widowed by conflicts, families are devastated by natural disasters and refugees are relocated to new countries. World Relief’s calling is to stand for the vulnerable. Locally, World Relief Durham (WRD) works with immigrants, churches, and the community to help vulnerable immigrants thrive. In our work, we hope to engage students, graduate students, recent graduates, or anyone who is passionate about serving the refugee and immigrant community. The Immigration Legal Services Center of World Relief is located in Durham and partners with local churches as well as the wider community to provide affordable, high-quality legal services to immigrants throughout the North Carolina area. Rebecca joined the team at World Relief shortly after moving to North Carolina in early 2016, and began as the finance coordinator in September 2017. Susan has written grants and coordinated volunteer responses for refugee agencies in Raleigh and advocates on a national level for immigrants. They do this in three ways.
