"The Last Unicorn" was a decent animated flick, made with all the spirit of classic fairy tales, with witches, talking animal, mythological creatures and princes. What may have appealed to the hippies/baby-boomer generation as a witty parody of fantasy tropes (stickin' it to the man!) It's certainly a darker movie than others aimed at kids, though it is hardly dark enough to affect adults. The graphic novel version (ISBN-13: 978-1631401275) has Peter B Gillis listed as an author. I also assume you think me silly or adorable or stuck in my Disney Princess phase for naming this as one of my favorites, if not very favorite. The Last Unicorn, a unforgettable 1982 Animation Fantasy classic that enchanted fans of Fantasy and animation since it first came out. I didn't see it again for the longest time until I found it on video recently. It's incredibly weird but wonderful. Probably due to the fact that Peter S. Beagle wrote the screenplay. as soon as it began my dad said "whoa, i love this movie and haven't seen it in years! This can be attributed to the fact that the book's author, Peter S. Beagle, was forced by the constraints of film to pare his work down to the bare essentials. Adults can skip "The Last Unicorn," but it's a must for any little kid who likes fantasy. Apparently Haggard's lines were literally adapted from the book. *sigh* You know what? It's not a once-upon-a-time tale, nor is it just for children. The plot is slow, the dialogue drags, and it's uninteresting, overall. Michel Gondry has a theory that when we sleep our bodies, minds, souls, heart (whatever else there might be) are opened up and when we awake we want to be close (and also explaining why people wake up horny). 46 out of 52 found this helpful.
