This remake is a train wreck. The romantic spirit of the cottage, however, overtakes them. With Dorothy McGuire, Robert Young, Herbert Marshall, Mildred Natwick.
Such a beautiful love story, in such a gorgeous location. It's a shame that the cottage does not really exist. Loved the story. Flash forward. The cottage had a very warm atmosphere from all the props and furniture. Laura Pennington, a shy plain nurse is hired on to care for Oliver. Was this review helpful? He's then seen being dragged (not carried) into the cottage by two soldiers who then walk out of the cottage, stop and glare into the darkness (for no reason) then walk away. His horrible disfigurement is not so much at all and would be easily corrected. The two develop a bond and agree to marry, more out of loneliness than love. Keep track of everything you watch; tell your friends.

I forced myself to watch the entire thing. It doesn't. It makes me want to see the original as this was a remake. It would be cool to see some more magic happen out of the cottage. I was hoping the opening scene was not an indication of what we would see when we got to the main characters. The acting was superb and Richard Hatch's last appearance was excellent.This film gave me character to care for and by the end of the film I was rooting for the two main characters. When 13-year-old Tolly finds he can mysteriously travel between the two, he begins an adventure that unlocks family secrets laid buried for generations.
