Planning for the upcoming Saskatchewan election will be a bipartisan effort as recommended by Elections Saskatchewan. Voters, Boda said, can sign up to receive an email or text that provides them with the necessary information, thus eliminating the physical exchange of the card.Work also is being done with regards to the process before election day.Boda has had discussions with the various political parties about campaign activities, from door-knocking to indoor and outdoor rallies.Boda and Shahab are working together to develop guidelines for those events and that information will be provided to candidates and their parties.Saskatchewan may be the first Canadian jurisdiction to stage an election during the pandemic, but it’s not the first in the world.Boda said Elections Saskatchewan looked at three elections held elsewhere around the globe — one in Wisconsin, one in Australia and one in South Korea — to see how they conducted the process in the face of COVID-19.“In each case, we learned a great deal from what went well and what did not go well,” Boda said.
