University Heights/Kingsbridge/Fordham are slowly becoming more gentrified. BLM isn't shooting police, either, btw. I love the city and although there is a lot of action and noise, most people just trying to make it . Hey all, non nyc native here looking at a place on Shakespeare Ave by Jerome. Visit the Grand Concourse all the way up at it's end and you'll find a nicer area that is quiet.There are a lot of better neighborhoods.
The 1br may be smaller, but in the 2br you'll have to worry about going out late at night even to walk short distances, a relatively large number of homeless people around pan handling for change, hearing gun shots in the middle of the night on a regular basis, and seeing news stories about people getting shot/stabbed/killed near where you live on a regular basis.Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good people living in the area - and most all of them would choose to live elsewhere if they could afford it. Law enforcement is not as present in these areas as they are near Fordham University and the surrounding areas like The Grand Concourse. If you're questioning what that is, take your $60k+ a year income and find a better neighborhood. Visit the High Bridge. It's a normal neighborhood. * Purple areas are the absolute worst in the city.
