All in all, a cool movie, with an interesting premise, alright acting and something to say! A very, very slow and somewhat muddy one. In an alternate reality, children learn how lucky they will be (their "frequency"), knowledge which shapes their destiny.
The narrative takes place at a deliberate distance from the audience , leaving us silent observers even more than most films.
This is the type of movie that will become a popular reference in the future like the movie Idiocracy did, where people are now pointing out that our society is heading in the same direction just like it was portrayed in Idiocracy.

By the time you watch it, it slowly shifted to a bizarre sci-fi pumping up your heart beat. If Frequencies (aka OXV: The Manual) actually had a coherent story or something meaningful to say it could have been a great film, but it simply doesn't.

I love the idea behind this film, an alternate, quirky world - like ours but not quite. Writer-Director Darren Paul Fischer's film 'Frequencies' is quite ambitious in nature, not by its budget, but by the number of intriguing themes it explores and way it makes us contemplate on them. But I am sure that whatever kind of person you are, this film will give you much.
It is critical not to miss a scene, a word, or even a gesture. It's a film of dramatic weight and insight, but also a film whose ideas sometimes get way from itself, leaving the viewer occasionally perplexed.
Plus, there are funny art, science and philosophy related references to notice throughout!
